Ensemble Offspring is honoured to have received the Art Music Award for Excellence by an Organisation on Tuesday 16th August in Melbourne at our industry event hosted by APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre.
We can’t thank enough all those who have made this 20-year journey possible: our performers across the years, including current core line-up, the amazing Zubin Kanga, Lamorna Nightingale, Jason Noble, Veronique Serret, Bree van Reyk and Claire Edwardes; our passionate donors who have helped to commission so many new works; our dedicated Board and Chair; Patron, Kim Williams; core funding partners, the Australia Council for the Arts and Arts NSW; APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre for their dedication to supporting the creation and dissemination of great Australian art music; a rich and vibrant artistic sector of composers, colleagues and collaborators; our passionate and supportive audience members; and importantly, founder and Artistic Director for 20 years, Damien Ricketson, whose enormous dedication to the organisation is immeasurable — as well as current Artistic Director, Claire Edwardes, who has taken the creative reigns solo this year following a long and fruitful co-artistic directorship with Damien.
Our extra congratulations go to Claire Edwardes for her tireless work performing, promoting and advocating for Australian music across many roles, recognised in her also receiving the Award for Excellence by an Individual. This is very much deserved recognition for Claire’s enormous devotion to new music, and the independent arts sector in Australia.
We also congratulate Tristan Coelho, whose work read/write error commissioned by our Noisy Egg Creation Fund, was a finalist in the Instrumental Work of the Year category. We congratulate Tristan on this important recognition of a really strong new repertoire piece and thank all our generous donors who made the creation of the work possible. We look forward to presenting the sextet again in November as part of Kontiki Racket.
We had a great time celebrating in Melbourne with colleagues from around Australia and extend our sincere congratulations to all finalists and winners!
