“It’s beautiful to sit and focus on a place that is meaningful and important to you….we’re everything and we’re nothing at the same time, and art helps us make sense of that.” Nardi Simpson
-barra is a sonic and visual journey into the heart of Yuwaalaraay Country in North Western NSW. Explore how to hear the language of land, the beauty of singing to land and music inspired by the land.
Join First Nations artist Nardi Simpson and the innovative instrumentalists of Ensemble Offspring for an afternoon of storytelling, music, song and language bringing together the threads of Nardi’s diverse career: from singer-songwriter with the Stiff Gins, to storyteller, novelist, playwright, educator, choir-leader, and chamber music composer. A gorgeous array of projected still and moving images from Yuwaalaraay Country will accompany this distinctive and memorable presentation.
