As birdsong drifts in on the summer breeze, an intimate trio of flute, clarinet and percussion take inspiration from the weird and wonderful sounds of the Australian bush. Capturing the calls and songs of Australian birds in a plethora of new works written for Ensemble Offspring, Songbirds is a journey into the sounds of nature with the magical calls of pied butcherbirds, virtuosic avian displays and indigenous musical perspectives on these beguiling creatures of the sky.
“…the musicians joined the contrapuntal web, matching the avian virtuosity with their own” – The Sydney Morning Herald
“Stunning…Songbirds is an album of splendid, thought-provoking and evocative new music.” – Helen Musa, City News
