Sizzle is Ensemble Offspring’s family-friendly collaborative music-making event which has been running in the inner west of Sydney for the past 10 years. In 2018 we took Sizzle to Goulburn for the first time and it was a hit with the locals.
In 2019 we are bringing Sizzle to Taree and we invite local performers and teachers at any level to participate and join us in 2 hours of fun music-making at Taree Band Hall. Listen to local talent present their sonic wares and join in a unique mass-music-making extravaganza – as well as of course a set from Ensemble Offspring. And it’s all FREE! Sign up now!
Before Sizzle, we will be working with the young creatives at Girrawong Preschool and local Biripai/Gamillaroi man and composer Troy Russell. Troy’s journey with music began at 11 when a neighbour offered to teach him the fundamentals of music, and Troy flourished. He found an old photograph of his father playing the banjo and learned that his family from Taree was a musical family – a great revelation that has been inspiring him for the last 40 years.
“Ensemble Offspring were thoroughly entertaining, and such a fun bunch, and I think everyone would have gone away having learned something from their bits of feed back to to the soloists. for Kay and me, the icing on the cake was the final session where as percussionists we joined in and we were encouraged to ‘jam’. I hope they come again.”– Taree Sizzle Participant
