Art Music Award Winners

We are so thrilled to receive the State Luminary Award at this year’s APRA AMCOS Art Music Awards, for consistently high-quality performances, breadth of repertoire, and commitment to collaboration for 25 years!

The entire Ensemble Offspring family is extremely honoured to have our dedication to living music recognised in the country’s most prestigious awards ceremony for our industry. We were also a finalist for this year’s Performance of the Year: Notated Composition award, for our 2020 Phoenix Central Park performance of Alex Pozniak’s epic sextet En Masse.

In an interview by The Age about our big win, our Artistic Director Claire Edwardes said “I think it’s really important to foster emerging composers, people who don’t get a voice in the very competitive mainstream big orchestras… Classical music is a traditional form that goes way back, there’s an ingrained conservatism in the middle of it, whether or not people are aware [of it].”

We sincerely thank APRA AMCOS and the Australian Music Centre for this award. We also congratulate all the other worthy winners including our long time collaborators Jess O’Donoghue, Sydney Chamber Opera, Speak Percussion, Erik Griswold, Anne Cawrse and Cathy Milliken.

We are so sad that we’re unable to celebrate with our amazing and inspiring industry colleagues in person this year (or last) and can’t wait for live performance and travel to resume soon so we can all create and present art together and to audiences once again!
