Abbey Felton Goes to Scotland

2023 Hatched Academy Associate Artist, guitarist Abbey Felton was recently offered a place in a Master's of Music Performance degree at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland this September.

Having established herself as a freelance performer and composer in Perth, Abbey is looking forward to further developing her career internationally.

"I'm really excited to undertake master's studies in Scotland. This amazing opportunity will allow me to refine my technique across diverse musical genres, collaborate with other international musicians and artists, and promote Australian music abroad."

Ensemble Offspring’s Artistic Director, Claire Edwardes reflects on Abbey’s time with EO curating the program of our final Mondays @ The Church concert in 2023. Watch the performance here.

“During her time as our Hatched Associate Artist, Abbey really shone on stage with a natural stage presence. I was also really impressed with how hard she worked on a very challenging program of duos, trios and quartets featuring the guitar - and the concert was super memorable.”

Upon completing her studies abroad Abbey plans to use new skills gained abroad to establish an ensemble in her hometown of Perth. This initiative aims to create a platform for showcasing Western Australian music and musicians as well as fostering the development of local emerging performers.

You can financially support Abbey through her fundraiser with the Australian Cultural Fund (ACF) to make this incredible opportunity a reality. Donate to Abbey’s campaign here: https://artists.australianculturalfund.org.au/s/project/a2EMn00000986uJMAQ/abbey-feltons-scottish-study-adventure
