SEASON 2025
GROUNDBREAKING NEW MUSIC FOR 30 YEARS
Welcome to our 2025 Season
In our 30th anniversary season of groundbreaking new music we’re celebrating our beginnings – imaginative, resourceful and more than a bit audacious – while looking, as always, to the future. Our distinctive line-up is often referred to as a ‘Pierrot ensemble’ and Arnold Schoenberg’s Pierrot lunaire – perhaps the closest new music has to a ‘classic’ – has provided an anchor for our 2025 programming. Around this, we’ve curated a series of concerts that bring together powerful and joyful experiences: music that we’re excited to perform and share with you.
In 2025, you can expect an abundance of cutting-edge work by world-class composers, including Brigitta Muntendorf, Tristan Coelho, Holly Harrison, Anna Thorvalsdottir and Lisa Illean.
We’re especially excited to bring you Moonstruck, featuring the Australian premiere of an international co-commission for voice and ensemble, Pierrot Deconstructed. Lumen Machine shines the spotlight on inventive music technology with cyborg pianist Zubin Kanga, and Divine Darkness creates an evocative sonic and visual feast for the senses at The Neilson, ACO on the Pier.
Back by popular demand, our Avant Gardens concerts enliven Sydney backyards with Songbirds and Double Symmetry, and we celebrate the best-of-the-best young composers from around Australia with Hatched Future Classics. Finally, with a bumper year of First Nations programming, Ngarra-Burria: First Peoples Composers showcases the latest in fresh Indigenous chamber music.
We promise you a big, bold season of first-time and retrospective collaborations, with music to ignite your mind, soul and senses, and we invite you to join us in 2025!
